WHAT ARE DESIGN PRINCIPLES?
Design principles are a set of considerations that form the basis of any good design.
When planning for a project, there are certain principles to adhere to. These principles make it a easier for designers to have a more seamless flow during the course of the project.
The following are some of the principles that as a designer, should be adhered to:
Seamless Integration: Every user has a unique schedule, the integration of the design is required to be seamless and integrated into their daily lives.
Simple: This is as simple as it appears. Designs are encouraged to be simple for easy understanding and use. Nobody wants a design to complex to understand or access.
Polite: Designs are primarily created to be used and enjoyed, so there, the design should be beneficial and accessible to the user.
EMPATHY MAP
The word “empathy” cannot have its meaning taken away even in a design context, it is to let yourself see, feel and view things as the user would do and this enables one to create something that is relatable to the user.
Under design principles, there is something called EMPATHY MAP . This is a collaborative visualization used to articulate what we know about a particular type of user. It helps to create a shared understanding of the user’s needs .After the interview is carried out , the response and thoughts of the user is mapped out in order to understand their environment as they would.
WIREFRAME AND STORT BOARDING
Wireframes and storyboards are different but they also compliment one when used correctly , and other and are sort of co dependent as well.
Wireframes focuses on structuring the user interface and defining functionality, it is also an illustration of a page’s interface that specifically focuses on space allocation and prioritization of content.
A wireframe is also considered a blueprint of an interface that is not finished.
Storyboards on the other hand is focused on structuring the user interface and defining functionalities, this concentrate on visualizing the users narrative.
It is a method used to mock up ideas, designs and concepts typically presenting a sequence of wireframes meaning that it is an aftermath of the wireframe.
SUMMARY
Design principles helps align us with the right process as to which we can have a good design process/ journey.
Bare in mind that while designing, the user is the primary focus and the one considered.
Designs are made to ideally suit it’s user( as started in seamless integration) most especially because these designs are initiated to meet needs.
Without design principles, the design process will be incomprehensible.
